What is chiropractic care?

When evaluating and treating patients, chiropractors take a holistic approach addressing the specific needs of each patient, identifying and correcting the cause(s) of the health ailment. Chiropractic is the use of manual techniques focusing on spinal adjustments in order to correct subluxation, without any drugs or surgery. Chiropractic focuses on the neurosystem and its effects on organs and other musculoskeletal parts of the body. Chiropractors may also recommend orthotics, lifestyle and dietary changes.

What is an adjustment?

A spinal adjustment is where a chiropractor uses their hands to apply a controlled force to a spinal joint in order to correct structural alignment and enchance nerve function. Subluxation occurs when vertebrae have moved out of place or become restricted in motion, exerting pressure on the spinal nerves and interrupting the neural message sent to organs and other parts of the body. Correcting these subluxations helps restores the body’s innate ability to heal itself.
