Infant Massage

Infant massage therapy is an important tool to help alleviate physiological ailments such as colic, gas and constipation. It can help develop muscle tone, coordination and strength. Touch can soothe an upset baby and provide fun playtime experiences. Most importantly, massage therapy can be used as a bonding experience where deep human to human connection can develop through therapeutic touch that embodies safety and love. Infant massage is a reciprocal experience where your baby is learning about you and the world and you are learning about your baby. Through touch, you can deepen your understanding of your baby’s unique body language and subtle cues.

Infant massage sessions operate as a client centered treatment where you and the Registered Massage Therapist will engage in a conversation to find out what your baby’s greatest needs are. The massage will then be focused on your goals for the session.

The Registered Massage Therapist will teach you how to massage your baby so you develop the tools to use these techniques when needed.

Infant massage treatments can encompass the following: Full body massage including upper and lower limbs, abdomen, chest, back, face and head. Specific treatments for colic, gas, constipation and congestion can be taught as well. You will learn soothing techniques to help your baby settle down and sleep better.
